20 Ago Solo Leveling is a great new addition to the current anime genre.
Solo Leveling, originally a South Korean web novel by Chugong, ran from 2014 to 2021. A 12-episode anime adaptation by A-1 Pictures followed in early 2024. The sequel, Solo Leveling: Arise from the Shadow, further boosted its popularity, making it the most-watched anime on Crunchyroll. Now, a new project based on the anime has been announced, this time for Netflix.
The enormous success of this anime attracted the attention of major production companies in the industry. Netflix then took the plunge and decided to produce a live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling.
On its website, the platform presented the project as follows: “The upcoming live-action adaptation of the series promises vibrant characters, dynamic action sequences and exciting adventures created by a world-class visual effects team.”
The platform announced on its social media channels who will play the lead role in the series. South Korean actor Byeon Woo-seok will portray Sung Jin-woo in this adaptation. He has already appeared in popular Korean dramas such as “Lovely Runner” and “A Girl of the 19th Century” and will now be part of this major project.
There is currently no confirmed release date for the live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling.
