07 Jun The first Apple Store turned 24 years old.
Twenty-four years ago, Steve Jobs and his team decided to open the first Apple Store. This paved the way for the hundreds of Apple Stores we have today in many countries.
It has been 24 years since Apple opened its first store in the Tysons Corner shopping mall in Virginia on May 19, 2001. At that time, the company didn’t have a strong market presence, and Steve Jobs believed that having its own space where Apple could showcase its products the way it envisioned was the best way to connect with customers.

To achieve this, Jobs brought Ron Johnson, who came from Target, on board. Together they designed a new type of store with a clean, modern, and uncluttered design. This is where the famous “Genius Bar” was created, which we know today as Apple’s repair and support area.

Today, Apple Stores are considered a benchmark for successful businesses worldwide; there are currently 534 official Apple Stores in 27 countries, and more openings are expected.

Twenty-four years after the opening of the first Apple Store, hundreds more have followed. And who would have told Steve Jobs that his company would come this far?
