13 Jul Mario Bros sequel confirmed and movie title leaked: ‘Super Mario World’
After the megahit “Super Mario Bros. – The Movie” in 2023, it was only a matter of time before Nintendo announced a sequel. Now, fans of the world’s most famous plumbers are ecstatic: the title has been accidentally leaked! And we even have a release date for the new film… Everything indicates that it will be a nostalgic trip straight to the heart of the 90s gaming era.
The hype began when Universal accidentally revealed the name of the sequel in a press release: “Super Mario World”. Although the information was quickly deleted, the internet did the rest.
The title is a direct reference to the legendary SNES game from 1990, which many of us still remember today because it was where we first played with Yoshi or suffered in Bowser’s castles.
The film will be released in cinemas on April 3, 2026, with the same creative dream team behind it: Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic are directing, and Matthew Fogel is the screenwriter.
